Daniel L. Ruddy, D.C.

In this profession, I get to know my patients pretty well, during examination of their case history on the first visit, and then through casual conversations during follow-up treatments. With the laid-back environment of our practice, there are always some good laughs and stories shared with whomever walks through our doors. We believe that this friendly, comfortable atmosphere allows doctor-patient interactions to be much less nerve-racking; and contributes to the overall feeling of good health that we strive to provide. I realize however, that while my current patients are fairly in-tune to my personality and interests, future patients may be curious as well.

I grew up in Cheshire, along with my younger sister and brother, and much of my extended family in town as well.  Through family ties, work, school and sports, I have become intertwined with the town in which I practice. After attending Cheshire High School, I moved to a suburban area of Philadelphia where I earned a Biology degree from Villanova University. Five months after graduating, I headed west to Davenport, Iowa, where I began the intensive 3 ½ years of training at Palmer College of Chiropractic (PCC). Although I did settle into the Iowa lifestyle just fine, I am quite pleased to be back in Connecticut serving the communtiy that I have been a part of for the majority of my life.

My interest in Chiropractic began in junior high school when I learned of a profession (chiropractic) that focused on treating very common conditions with natural, hands-on methods. The philosophy and benefits of chiropractic just made sense to me....'the human body is a complex machine, with just a little help, it often knows how to heal itself.'  As a senior in high school, I participated in a work-study program that allowed me to shadow a local chiropractor for a semester. As it turns out, my mentor at that time is the chiropractor whom I currently practice alongside of, Dr. James Grenon of Cheshire.

In the following years, while I studied and trained at Palmer, I became interested in the area of sports chiropractic and have continued to pursue that part of the chiropractic field with my continuing education. Playing rugby for Palmer, and previously at Villanova, I gained some first hand experience regarding the benefits of chiropractic for athletes. In addition, I was a member of the Palmer Sports Council, and had the opportunity to treat competitors at various athletic events, ranging from triathlons and road races to the Celtic-Highland Games. Here, as a cheshire chiropractor at Alexander & Grenon, I have continued to serve competitors of all ages and abilities.  My most recent endeavor has been coaching the up-start Cheshire Rugby Club; teaching the game to the high school athletes and demonstrating the benefits of chiropractic care in sports.
